Abstract
The Union, on behalf of the Grievor, requested the payment of sick leave benefits accumulated during a six month period of lay-off.
The grievance fails. In light of the benefit scheme under the Collective Agreement and considering the purposes of sick pay benefits, as well as the wording of all relevant provisions of the Collective Agreement, sick pay benefits do not apply to employees on lay-off.
