Abstract
The Grievors are maintenance electricians who have been required to work standby on traffic lights on an overtime basis. The Grievors thought the overtime was voluntary but the Employer treated the overtime as mandatory. The Union takes the position that overtime for the electricians cannot be mandatory under the agreement. The Union requests a declaration that the practice of requiring maintenance electricians to work standby duty was contrary to the collective agreement and an order that such practice cease.
