Abstract
The Grievor is a permanent fork lift operator who was asked by his foreman to work an overtime shift. He was then told he would not be required to work the overtime because the work would be done by a spare fork lift operator as his regular shift. The Union alleges that the fork lift operator's job created a temporary vacancy which should have been filled by the Grievor because he was performing the work on the previous shift. They ask that the Grievor be compensated for the lost shift.
