Abstract
The grievance concerns whether the Employer closed its Louisbourg or North Sydney fish processing plants in entirety for purposes of a Letter of Understanding re plant closures. The two year closure of the northern cod fishery affected both plants causing lay-offs. The Employer has kept a management structure in place and has not announced closure. The Union's position is that both plants were closed in their entirety and severances are due. The Employer's position is that the plants are being maintained in a state of operational readiness.
