Abstract
The Grievor has been a Registered Nurse for sixteen years and works at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital on a full time basis in the Outpatient/Emergency Department. She claims she was not compensated for work performed after being called in to work with less than 72 hours notice. The Employer's position is that the Grievor should have been paid two times her straight time rate of pay for 11.25 hours plus be permitted to take 7.5 hours off at a later date. The Union argues that she should be permitted to take 11.5 hours off at a later date. The intention was to provide a premium benefit for being called in on short notice on a Holiday upon which the Nurse was not scheduled to work.
