Abstract

This is an interest arbitration to settle outstanding issues for a new Collective Agreement. The issues: (1) An across the board wage increase. The Union wishes 6% for each of two years; the Employer offers 3% for each of the two years. (2) The Union wishes an increase of $1.00 for Sergeants before the application of the across the board increase. The Employer is offering none. (3) The Union seeks a 1% increase in pension contributions by the Employer. The latter offers .5%. (4) The Union wishes changes in the 1920 hours cap on sick leave accumulation; the Employer offers no change. (5) The Union seeks a removal of the 6 month maximum cap on sick leave cash-out and wants the pay-out to be at termination for any reasons. The Employer offers no changes. (6) The Union wishes the service pay to be based on one weeks pay for every year worked, instead of the present calculation based on one weeks pay for every five years worked. The Employer offers no change.
