Abstract
The Union believes that thirteen nurses, hired as floats, should have been paid a premium during their first year on the job. The Employer did not pay the premium because the first year was viewed as a time for orientation. As remedy the Union requested that the nurses should be paid the premium.
The grievance succeeds. The nurses worked as floats and thus should receive the premium. Jurisdiction is retained in the event that the parties are unable to agree on the compensation.
