Abstract
Upon signing the Collective Agreement, the Parties agreed to submit to Arbitration the question of what constituted the "regular hourly rate". This was done for the purpose of calculating overtime pay, which was one and a half times that rate. The Employees were bus drivers who were paid $600 per month, for ten months a year, with a 20 hour work week. Previously, 195 days was the basis on which overtime was calculated, being the number of days on which driving was done. The Board objected to this at negotiations and wanted to base the rate on the ten month period, or 216 days.
