Abstract

The three Grievors are bus drivers who, having completed a regular shift of eight hours on the spareboard (that is, not assigned to a specific route) were compelled by the Employer to do extra work. The Union claims this work can only be assigned in an emergency, not relevant in this case; further, the three Grievors were not chosen appropriately for the task. The Union requests payment of the overtime rate for all hours that the Grievors were compelled and assurance that this will never happen again.
