Abstract
The grievance concerns whether employees in receipt of "home board" are entitled to the weekend travel allowance.
The grievance fails. The Arbitrator determined that all employees working out of temporary headquarters had the choice of being boarded and lodged at the Employer's expense, with a weekend transportation allowance, or of being paid "home board". He states that the evident purpose of the Collective Agreement is to allow employees required to live away from home, due to work commitments, the opportunity to return home on weekends. Paying the allowance to the Grievors does not serve that purpose.
