Abstract
At issue in these two grievances is whether the Employer can extend the hours of temporary employees assigned to part-time walks or routes before offering overtime to volunteer full-time and part-time regular employees in accordance with the Collective Agreement. The Employer's position is that a temporary employee who has been properly assigned to do the work of a part- timer can be extended just as the person he or she is replacing could have been extended. The Union submits that the reference to a volunteer part-time letter carrier must be to a regular employee.
