Abstract
The grievance alleges that the Employer failed to compensate temporary employees at the applicable rates of pay for the period they were in training for employment with the Employer. Four people were required to take a day of defensive driving training as one of the conditions of being put on the list of temporary employees. The Employer sees this as one of a series of prerequisites to be met in determining whether a person is acceptable as a temporary employee. The Union sees it as a day of temporary employment for which wages must be paid. The Employer also submits that the grievance is out of time.
